Building Control Surveyor - 3 posts: London, South West, Hertfordshire

The Building Control Surveyor will be responsible for arranging and undertaking site inspections of projects during construction to help ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated guidance for residential developments typically up to 11 metres high.

We currently have vacancies within the London, South West and Hertfordshire areas.

Reports To

The Building Control Surveyor will report to Technical Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking inspection of works and producing detailed records of all inspections undertaken

  • Ensuring at completion of works that all relevant inspections have been carried out, appropriate certification submitted, and any defects/non-conformities have been addressed before final certification is issued

  • Ensuring that all project records are on the database

  • Carrying out duties in accordance with QMS procedures

  • Delivery of consistent service and building effective client relationships

  • Providing mentoring and support towards the training and development of our trainee and assistant building control surveyors

  • Undertaking, where required, inspections on behalf of the wider ICW Group and in line with service level agreements

Essential Criteria:

  • Membership of (RICS, CABE, CIOB) or working towards.
  • At least 3 years practical experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrable experience in the ability to interpret plan appraisal of residential and mixed- use developments.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Building control inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and environmental issues.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of ISO 9001 practices and procedures.
  • HNC, HND or a degree or an equivalent qualification in building studies or a related subject.
  • Experience working within the warranty business is desirable.
